Sparus Auratus
The Gilt-Head Sea bream is a fish belonging to the family of Breams. The scientific name is Sparus Auratus.
Wild sea breams are found mainly in the Mediterranean and eastern regions of the North Atlantic. It is one of the most widely cultivated species of the Mediterranean aquaculture. The main countries farming sea breams are Greece, Spain and Turkey.
Dicentrarchus Labrax
The sea bass is a fish which belongs to the family of Maronidon. The scientific name is Dicentrarchus Labrax and wild Bass is found primarily in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Black Sea.
It is the second most important species, in quantity, in the Mediterranean Aquaculture.
The main countries farming sea bass are Greece, Spain and Turkey.
Pagrus Auratus
The scientific name is Pagrus Auratus (Linnaeus, 1758) and belongs to the family of Sparidae. It ranks among the so-called “red” fish such as the dentex and the red snapper. Its length can reach 90 cm and weight of 8-9 kg. It is a demersal species, i.e. living near the seabed in open waters and in different types of bottom (rocky, sandy or posidonia meadows) at depths ranging from 30 to 250 m. and often below 150 m. depth.
Argyrosomous Regius
The Shi drum or Croaker is an aqua cultured fish rich in flavor and nutrition elements. The scientific name is Argyrosomous Regius and the wild Croaker is found mainly in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean sea. Its length can reach up to 1, 5 m and its weight up to 30 kg. Given the fact of its great size, the croaker offers a wide range of processing possibilities. The marketing-trade weight starts at 1kg and reaches up to 5kg, offering a variety of solutions and covering many different needs of the fish market.
